Welcome to February! We are excited to share a few pieces of NEUS. . . (Or News for those of you new to my puns).
First: renovation is NEARLY done. We are waiting on the finishing touches. We discussed that in the newsletter, but if you didn't read that, now you know! March is our highly anticipated date for furniture arrival, just in time for St. Paddy's day celebrations.
Secondly: The third week of January, we welcomed a new Activity Director, Allison Rivers, to East. Allison has graced us over the last few months as a fantastic program/activities assistant, she has provided a brief introduction:
Hello Neuvant Family,
My name is Allison Rivers and I have recently been named the new Program Director for the East Building. I wanted to take this time to introduce myself. I am originally from Gulfport, MS, and finished my high school diploma while also completing my Associates of Science degree in 2018. I then accepted a bowling and academic scholarship to Ottawa University where I completed my bachelor’s degree in biology with an emphasis in Pre-medicine in 2021. During the summer of 2022, I decided to take a chance, change my major, and began my master’s journey online through the University of Mississippi with anticipation of graduating December of 2023 in Hospitality Management.
I began at Neuvant House as a program assistant in June 2022, with the privilege of working in both the East and West Buildings. During this time, I have been able to help plan and execute many monthly birthday parties, group outings, and an assortment of other celebrations for both the residents and fellow staff. I am excited to continue to work with your family members and look forward to introducing myself to all of you.
Sincerely,
Allison Rivers
Thank you, Allison, for your talent, your grace and your wonderful independent and creative mind. You may also have noticed her in our Newsletter for January 2023. You can find that in our previous blog post. We are so excited to see what is in store for activities in 2023.
Allison and Cadance have started to plan a special Valentine's Day event, a Mardi Gras event, and is spearheading the St. Paddy's day parade entry for NHL.
Every year we look forward to spring, and these first few events are sure to remind us that warmer days are coming. Here's to hoping the pesky groundhog agrees with us.
Until next time!
